You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Dined On What Didn’t
Located in the far northern outskirts of Thunder City, surrounded by trees and adjacent to the Timber River, the Roadkill Grill is a partnered business with Linger Lodge, an RV park, campground, and inn. The grill’s claim to fame is its unusual menu, which consists largely of southern-style food and oddities. If you’re looking for sheer variety in meats, this is the place for it, as they serve deer and alligator, all pending availability. Of course, there’s also that… one page of the menu. The Grill is very popular among those who appreciate redneck culture, meat enthusiasts, and bikers.
The Roadkill Grill is a large, squarish building on a raised foundation with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating on the back porch is screened in, though the front is not. There is an additional seating area of picnic tables under oak trees, though these are not typically used by restaurant patrons. The building itself is almost exclusively made of wood treated for durability and resistance against fire.
The Grill is filled with icons of Southern and redneck culture, including taxidermied animals, singing bass fish, and empty beer cans of as many varieties as possible. License plates and autographed photos, as well as photos of the owner’s family, are all on display.
The menu features some very standard options, but these are more consolation for people who have been dragged to the grill by a friend or loved one, and are unwilling to order anything stranger than chicken or salmon. Normal food options include a variety of chicken, pork, and beef, seafood, and salads.
One section of the menu is distinctly southern and offers items, mostly appetizers, such as chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, and grits on tits.
A special menu is available on Sunday. It more or less offers the same items, but you can elect to get your toast with the face of Jesus Christ or Mother Teresa burnt into it at no extra charge.
Alcoholic beverages are served on premises and include a variety of beers and mixed drinks. Some are traditional, and others are Roadkill Grill specials, such as Bog Grog and Swamp Water, or the Very Bloody Mary.
